With more than 2400 participants, it is undeniable that the annual AIPPI congress- which took place in London from 14 to 18 September 2019 – was a real success.

This success owes much to all of you – conference participants, members of the groups that prepared and defended the Study Questions in sessions, and your ongoing commitment. The AIPPI Switzerland Committee would like to thank you for this all.

In this regard, we would like to bring to your attention a major advance in the field of Client Attorney Privilege in the field of professional patent advice. After several years of discussion and negotiation, a draft resolution was voted on by an overwhelming majority of voters. This draft proposes to cover practitioners providing advice in the fields of patents, trademarks, designs and utility models. This draft resolution, which will be put to a vote at the Congress in China in 2020, was led by Andri Hess, member of our AIPPI Switzerland committee, and was strongly supported by the Swiss delegation. The AIPPI Switzerland Committee would like to thank Andri for his commitment and this major step forward.
